The Johnson and Johnson Innovation program is an initiative that has built six life science focused accelerators around the country. These accelerators, called JLabs(http://jlabs.jnjinnovation.com/), look to give fledgling life science companies a chance by giving them access to office space and wet lab facilities that only large, established companies generally have access to. http://www.jnjinnovation.com/

Labs @ Toronto was the first JLABS to open outside the United States. These facilities are home to over 100 early-stage companies advancing pharmaceutical, medical device, consumer and digital health programs. JLABS @ Toronto will be located at MaRS, occupying one floor of the West Tower and is a collaboration among Johnson & Johnson Innovation, The University of Toronto, MaRS Discovery District, Janssen Inc., MaRS Innovation, and the Government of Ontario. Scheduled to open Spring 2016, the 40,000-square foot facility will include cutting-edge, modular and scalable lab space, state-of-the-art equipment, with access to scientific, industry and capital funding experts. The space – which will be licensed to companies by U of T – will also feature JLABS' inaugural device and digital prototype lab that will provide entrepreneurs with access to highly specialized tools and skills building programs to design and develop smart health technologies.
