With the first link, a space after the URL indicated that the text that follows is the label. With the second link, the text following the pipe <nowiki>(|)</nowiki> indicates the label. You can leave the pipe and text off and then the page link will show up as the page name, like this: <nowiki>[[Editing Content]]</nowiki> gives [[BPPEditing Content]].
If you want to create a new page, make a link to a page name that doesn't exist, save the page, and then click the link!
