The I-Corps Nodes serve as hubs for education, infrastructure and research that engage academic scientists and engineers in innovation; they also deliver the I-Corps Curriculum to I-Corps Teams. The Southwest I-Corps Node (SW I-Corps) is focused on advancing the national innovation ecosystem for the United States as as a part of the National Science Foundation (NSF) I-Corps program. The SW I-Corps node also develops new, innovative ways to implement the I-Corps curriculum with diverse populations.

SW I-Corps efforts will leverage the combined entrepreneurial experience and research capabilities of lead research institutions: The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin), Texas A&M University (TAMU), and Rice University (Rice).
