- If small business is the backbone of the US economy, immigrants make up a significant portion of that backbone. Immigrants are found to have higher business ownership and formation rates than non-immigrants, with one out of ten immigrant workers owning a business and 0.62 % of immigrants starting a new business each month. That being said, immigrant businesses
