*In 2014, the annual number of patent actions filed declined for the first time since 2009. Approximately 5700 cases were filed in 2014 - representing a drop of 13%
*In contrast, the number of patents granted by the USPTO continued to grow steadily, increasing by 14% over 2014. There continues to be a very high correlation (approximately 95%) between the number of patent cases filed and patent patents granted.
