For sources that have not been automated using RSS feeds, I recommend subscribing to electronic newsletters:
- Silicon Prairie News (Subscribe to daily newsletter for free)
- Crunchbase, Daily (Subscribe to daily newsletter for free)
- PitchBook, Daily Pitch (subscribe to daily newsletter for free)
- Venture Beat Daily Roundup (subscribe to daily newsletter for free)
- TechCrunch, The Daily Crunch (subscribe to daily newsletter for free)
- PE Hub Wire (subscribe to daily newsletter for free)
- Mattermark - can be useful for editorials/blogs
These newsletters are free and can be rerouted directly to a weekly roundup mailbox. For future weekly roundup creators, McNair Center could consider creating an e-mail address that can be utilized solely for the purpose of VC and entrepreneurship newsletters.
For internet sources, such as PitchBook (News & Analysis), Harvard Business Review, Mattermark and Venture Beat, recommended search words include but are not limited to:
- small business
- entrepreneurship, startups
- venture capital
Standardized format for blog posts
Weekly Roundup posts begin with coverage on blog posts/reports published by McNair Center faculty.
The weekly roundup is usually split up into two segments: the latest news in entrepreneurship and startup news.
The latest entreprneurship news follows reports, op-eds, and blogs from the various aforementioned sources, while the startup segment mainly focuses on updates in VC funding rounds for successful startups (often stories are found from CrunchBase).
Weekly roundup posts should include around 8-10 stories, with 1-2 paragraphs for each story max. Usually, McNair Center staff posts receive more coverage. If applicable, news stories should be linked to previous McNair posts. Always include links to original source when referencing studies, reports, and surveys and when including statistics/data in the write-up.
