Intro

Shrey Agarwal is a 18 year-old student currently working as a Research Assistant for the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy's McNair Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Shrey is working towards a degree in Materials Science and Nanoengineering from Rice University, along with a minor in business. Shrey is currently a freshman at McMurtry college. Along with research at the McNair center, Shrey is involved with Catalyst, Rice's undergraduate science journal, as well as Rice Electric Vehicle, and the Rice Annual Fund, where he works in the Industrials section. Shrey plans to get a MBA once he completes his undergrad engineering degree.

Early Life

Shrey was born in Rourkela, India, where he lived until he was 5 years old. Due to family business, Shrey moved to Tampa, FL and completed his education there, finishing high school with an International Baccalaureate degree. He played tennis and basketball in high school, although he quickly realized he was not D1 material. In Tampa, Shrey also invested a lot of time in robotics and electrical systems. Due to his interest in these fields, Shrey went to Rice Engineering to join in nanoengineering research. Born to owners of a business, Shrey planned to use his research and work towards an entrepreneurial venture or towards innovation in an existing company.

Work Experience

In 2015, Shrey interned with a systems designs company, OccamMD, which worked with customers on a case-by-case situation to provide software solutions. Shrey would meet with new customers and take notes on project requirements as well as initial costs. He would then submit a report along with his supervisor to the company and they would evaluate the customer's needs.
